For detailed info on ALL command line options, refer to user's manual.
ON-DISK USER'S MANUAL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The installation process extracts a file called PC3D.MAN. This is a
ready-to-print user's manual that you can use for evaluating your
shareware copy of ProtoCAD 3D. (Note that this is not a substitute
for the 200+ page bound professional manual you receive when you
register the program)
The on-disk user's manual has been formatted to print properly on most
dot matrix and laserjet printers.
Once you have completed the installation of the program, you may print
the user's manual using the DOS COPY command, e.g.,
COPY PC3D.MAN PRN
Please, make sure you have at least 80 sheets of paper available in
your printer before you issue the above command.
SAMPLE DRAWINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ProtoCAD 3D archive should contain a number of sample drawing
files that are extracted during the installation process (files with
extension .PCF). In order to get a taste of some of the capabilities
of ProtoCAD 3d, follow these simple steps:
1. Install the program (as explained above).
2. Start the program (at the DOS prompt, type PC3D with any desired
command line options, and press ENTER).
3. Load a sample drawing (Select File, Load ).
4. Render the displayed image (select Render, Shade Drawing, Go).
You may repeat steps 3 and 4 for the rest of the sample drawing files.
NEW INFO - NOT IN THE MANUAL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. It should be noted that when using the Surface, Sweep command, the
sweeping action takes place based on the vector distance between
the start point of the sweeping object and the starting point of the
swept path. For example the same object swept around two circles
with different starting points, will result in two different swept
surfaces.
2. When importing an HPGL file, all imported elements are placed on
the same X-Y plane, i.e., a 2-dimensional object is created on
the X-Y plane intersecting the Z-axis at a user specified
coordinate (usually by typing in the coordinate). If the
pointer is used to place the imported elements, the X-Y plane
at the current Z-axis setting is used.
3. The command line switch /MONO has no effect if a configuration
file (PC3D.CFG) file is detected, i.e., the PC3D.CFG settings
cancel the /MONO switch.
4. When the error message is issued by the program, indicating that
either the maximum number of points has been reached, or the
program has run out of memory, usable memory cannot be recovered by
simply erasing some of the objects. The only way to reclaim any
usable memory is by a) saving the program (if desirable), and
b) either loading a new file (File, New), or exiting to DOS and
restarting the program.
Additions/Modifications in Release 1.10a
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A. A modification was made to eliminate an erroneous "Out of Memory"
message that would appear sometimes whet the Edit, Array command was
invoked.
B. A correction was made that would not permit the use of the arrow
keys to access all main menus while a primary menu was pulled down.
Such selection would stop at the plot menu.
C. A modification was made to avoid unnecessary screen updates when
exiting certain menus.
D. A correction was made to the HPGL output module to avoid the problem
of sometimes producing images much smaller than the image created on
the screen.
E. A check is now made to limit the amount of EMS accessed to 4 Mb,
regardless of the amount of EMS available. In earlier versions, if
more than 4 MB was available, the program would behave unpredictably,
depending on the EMS manager used.
F. A problem was corrected that would result in shadow images produced
by mouse movement after returning from a DOS shell.
G. The DXF import module was modified to insure that lines, circles, arcs
and text were not incorrectly filtered out.
H. A modification was made to the /ATT and /ATT2 video modes, so
that the program now correctly operates on the very early ATT
6300 models with original Monochrome and RGB monitors.
